About the lists: All the estates advertised in the newspapers are filed at the Master's Office, Pretoria and the estate number in an entry therefore refers to this office.  However, sometimes a few estates are advertised which are available at the other offices of the Master of the Supreme Court and this other office is indicated between brackets, following the number of the relevant estate. Entries in the newspapers are scanned and then edited to shorten the entry. a) two phrases in the entry, 'date of birth' and 'date of death' are replaced by the respective genealogical symbols. b) the words 'identity number' is shortened by the abbreviation ID:. c) if the surname appears last in the entry, it is moved to the beginning of the entry. d) Postal codes in the entry are omitted. Spelling is not edited and is kept according to the published entry.  Format: kept like advertised; entries in "The Star" are published in capitals. Sequence of elements within an entry: kept like advertised; I simply don't have the time to edit these to comply with a standard.  If the maiden name is published, a separate entry for the maiden name is listed in which the reader is referred to the relevant estate.

	From January 2005, Fanie Blignaut has sent his edited BMDs from "Beeld" to Tobi. Dankie Fanie From May 2003, Elmien Wood has sent Tobi original adverts for deceased estates from a number of newspapers circulated in the Free State (Volksblad, Kroon-Nuus, Express, Bloemnuus, Maluti, Vista, Vrystaat, Noord-Vrystaat and Goudveld Forum),  Eastern Cape (Die Burger Oos-Kaap),  Northern Cape (Noord-Kaap).
