On 26 February 1698 Aran van Trancquebare was sold by Jan Kotze to Pierre Simond, for f 330 the payment of which was deferred to 1 March 1702. I have assumed this to be the same individual purchased as Aran van Trancquebar by Cotse in 1697.33
Slave EmancipationsOn 22 September 1694 Jan van Madagascar was emancipated by Claas Leendertsz, on condition that he first worked, satisfactorily, for three years for Jan Cotse.34

Hendrina van Hoetingen ter eenre en desselfs seeven soo kinderen als kinds kinderen, genaamt Hans Jurgen Coetze, Jan Coetze representerende desselfs vader Zal:[iger] Christiaan Coetze, bij de Verweckt int eerste huwelijk van voorn: Jan Coetze d’ oude en desselfs overleedene huijsvrouw ___ Dirk Coetze verweckt int tweede huwelijk, Hendrik, Maria en Jantje Coetze verweckt int derde of laaste huijwelijk met voorn: Hendrina van Hoetingen, en laastelijk het kind waar van voorn: wed: nog swanger gaet en naderhant bij de geboorte genoemt is Roelof Coetze.

    Thus the evidence we have been looking for is here: Hans Jurgen was paid his portion from the estate of his father and also the portion of the estate of his deceased minor brother Roelof.
