Names in the record, in publications, etc. | 26 February 1698, the name of Aran was written in the record as Aron van Madras, I have assumed this to be the same individual purchased as Aran van Trancquebar by Cotse in 1697. Corrections welcome.2 |
Slave Transactions | On 6 January 1697 Aran van Trancquebare and Christoffel van Trancquebare were sold by Jan Pietersz: van Vleugel to Jan Cotse, for Rds. 80 each.3 On 26 February 1698 Aran van Trancquebare was sold by Jan Kotze to Pierre Simond, for f 330 the payment of which was deferred to 1 March 1702. I have assumed this to be the same individual purchased as Aran van Trancquebar by Cotse in 1697.2 |
