(Owner) BaptismCandidateTitus van Macassar may be the individual who was baptized on 31 October 1706 Nederduitsche Gereformeerde Kerk, (Cape Town). He was named Titus Christianus at this baptism, I think referring to the fact the he was now a Christian. Only one other individual in this group of baptisms is similarly recorded, that is Scipio Christianus who was baptised in 1707 as the slave of Samuel Elsevier. The possibility is that both of Samuel Elsevier's slaves were similarly recorded when baptised.6

Baptisms - WitnessSamuel Elsevier and Sara Catrina Elsevier witnessed the baptism of Anna Maria Weinoch on 25 July 1700 Nederduitsche Gereformeerde Kerk, (Cape Town).7
He and Johanna Constantia Elsevier witnessed the baptism of Samuel Weinoch on 10 June 1703 Nederduitsche Gereformeerde Kerk, (Cape Town).8
Scipio Christianus was baptized on 25 September 1707 Nederduitsche Gereformeerde Kerk, (Cape Town). He was named Scipio Christianus at this baptism, I think referring to the fact the he was now a Christian. Only one other individual in this group of baptisms is similarly recorded, that is Titus Christianus who was baptised in 1706 as a privately owned slave, and whom I have assumed to be Titus van Macassar, slave of Samuel Elsevier. The possibility is that both of Samuel Elsevier's slaves were similarly recorded when baptised.9

On 1 July 1697 Catharina van de Cust was sold by Francois van den Beecke to Samuel Elsevier, for Rds. 60.12
On 4 January 1698 Cupido van Gorontalo was sold by Samuel Elsevier to Pierre Rousseau, for Rds. 100. I have assumed him to be the same individual sold as Cupido van Gorontalo the previous year.13
On 17 January 1698 Titus van Macassar, Jan van Kissen and Francis van Malabar were sold by Jacob Joppe de Jonge to Samuel Elsevier, for Rds. 200.14
On 27 January 1698 Rangton van Bali was sold by Jacob Joppe de Jonge to Samuel Elsevier, for Rds. 60.15
On 25 March 1698 Francis van Malabar was sold by Samuel Elsevier to Pieter Claasen, for Rds. 60. I have assumed this to be the same individual purchased by Elsevier as Francis of unknown provenance in January 1698.16

Company JournalOn on 23 January 1699 Samuel Elsevier was mentioned in the Simon: Although the south-east wind commenced to blow very heavily in the evening the Governor and family were conducted from the ship by the chief merchant Sieur Samuel Elsevier and the Hon. Fiscal Joan Blesius, and landed at the Sandhills, where he was most civilly received by his father and the other members of the council.28
On on 13 February 1699 Samuel Elsevier was mentioned in the Willem Adriaan: February 13. Arrival of the return fleet under the Hon. Councillor Extraordinary Daniel Heyns, who is landed in State by order of the Governor, being attended by Secunde Elzevier and Fiscal Blesius.28
