Slave Transactions | On 25 March 1698 Francis van Malabar was sold by Samuel Elsevier to Pieter Claasen, for Rds. 60. I have assumed this to be the same individual purchased by Elsevier as Francis of unknown provenance in January 1698.3 On 8 May 1698 Claas van Malabar was sold by Leendert van Deijl to Pieter Claasen, for Rds. 50.2 On 23 January 1699 Class van Trancquebare was sold by Andreas Frorop to Pieter Claas, for Rds. 50.4 On 7 April 1699 Francis van Malabar was sold by Pieter Claas to Jan Le Roùx, for f 190, Cape valuation.5 On 21 May 1699 Leander van Malabar was sold by Cornelis Wyllemse to Pieter Claas, for Rds. 40.6 |
