Birth*Francina van Rheede was born circa 1660.1

Names in the record, in publications, etc.11 June 1685, the name of Francina was written in the record as Juffr. Francina van Roede.
Baptisms - WitnessFrancina van Rheede and Johannes Baecherus witnessed the baptism of Isaack Overnij on 11 June 1685 Nederduitsch Gereformeerde Kerk, (Cape Town), de Caep de Goede Hoop.1
Francina-Helena van de Caep was baptized on 8 July 1685 Nederduitsch Gereformeerde Kerk, (Cape Town), de Caep de Goede Hoop. The sponsors were High Commissioner Hendrik Adriaan van Rheede tot Drakenstein, Simon van der Stel, Francina van Rheede and Elsie van Suurwaerden, However, Commissioner van Reede tot Drakenstein was not at the Cape and Isaac de l'Ostal de Saint-Martin acted in his place.2,3
NotesFrancina van Rheede I have assumed that Francina van Rheede and Francina van Roede are one and the same individual because of the dates (17 June and 8 July, 1685) of the events they are attached to, because both seem to be women from the elite; and, given the size of the population at the time, the coincidence too great.4
Francina van Rheede and High Commissioner Hendrik Adriaan van Rheede tot Drakenstein The precise nature of the relationship between father and daughter has not been resolved. Francina may have been his natural daughter or his adopted daughter.

Heniger notes that in his last will Van Rheede stated that he was a bachelor and that he was Francina's gevader, that he had educated her and had always, and still, considered her to be his adopted daughter.5
