(Witness) BaptismSlaveJoost Ventura witnessed the baptism of Christiaan Victor on 7 June 1699 Nederduitsche Gereformeerde Kerk, (Cape Town).7 
(Witness) Defence On 16 March 1706 a petition on behalf of Willem Adriaan van der Stel was signed by the following free fishers, some of whom were also free blacks: Willem Basson, Reinier van der Sande, Jan Willemse Vermeulen, Willem Duijsert, Pieter Pieterse de Groot, Lambert Simonsz Stam, Claes van Coningshoven, Domingo van Bengale, Abraham Veij, Moses van Macassar, Joost Ventura, Coridon van Negapatnam, Emanùel van Macasser, Mirra Moor van Ceylon, Reva van Macassar and Katzilimuda van Macassar. The signatories testified that they, along with their families and slaves, had been allowed to earn an honest living fishing in Table Bay and further afield, without let or hindrance from the governor or any official acting on his behalf.8

Slave BirthsIn November 1677, Joost Ventura was born in bondage de Caep de Goede Hoop.2
Before 19 June 1712, Abraham van de Caep was born in bondage and was owned by Joost Ventura de Caep de Goede Hoop.12
Slave TransactionsOn 22 June 1696 Constantia van Malabar was sold by Pieter Robberts to Joost Ventura de Caep de Goede Hoop, for 80 Rixdollars.13,14
Slave EmancipationsJoost Ventura was emancipated at the request of his parents Ventura van Ceylon and Helena van Malabar, on 15 October 1678.15,16
On 30 July 1698 Constantia van Malabar was emancipated by Joost Ventura.17,18
