Slave TransactionsOn 11 February 1696 Mary van Madagascar and Jannetje van Madagascar were sold by Jan Dircksen de Beer to Catrina Backers, for Rds. 90.2
On 2 December 1697 Mary van Madagascar was sold by Catrina Backers to Dirk van Coningshoven, for Rds. 100.3
On 2 December 1697 Jannetje van Madagascar was sold by Catrina Backers to Christian Elers, for Rds. 30. In this transaction the toddler, said to be 4 years old, but in reality half that age, was separated from her mother, Mary van Madagascar.4
