Slave Birth - Company OwnedAnna van de Caep van Eva was born in bondage before 16 January 1689 and was owned by the VOC (Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie), Slave Lodge, de Caep de Goede Hoop, Anna van de Caep van Eva.1
BaptismAnna van de Caep van Eva was baptized on 16 January 1689 Nederduitsch Gereformeerde Kerk, (Cape Town), de Caep de Goede Hoop. The baptism was witnessed by Luitnt' Dominiqu Paque de Schavonnes and Andrijs de Man.2 
RacialDesignation* On 16 January 1689 Anna van de Caep van Eva was described as halfslag, a racial tag meaning she was mixed race, i.e. the father would most likely have been white.
