1692 Berndt Burcherdt was enumerated on the opgaafrol (census/tax roll) in De Caep de Goede Hoop, with his wife, Marritje van der Merwe. They were enumerated with a daughter, whom I have not identified.10
1695 Berndt Burcherdt was enumerated on the opgaafrol (census/tax roll) in, with his wife Marritje van der Merwe. Enumerated with them were two sons, presumably Barent Bùrger and Andries Burcherdt.18
1700 Berndt Burcherdt was enumerated on the opgaafrol (census/tax roll) in De Caep de Goede Hoop, with his wife Marritje van der Merwe. . They were enumerated with four sons, probably these three Barent Bùrger, Andries Burcherdt and Willem Burger. I have not identified the fourth son.19
Vrijbriewen and Burgher StatusBerndt Burcherdt became a burgher on 24 April 1687, in Dutch vryburgher or vrijburgher, initially a status in which a soldier or other employee of the VOC was released from their contractual obligations to the VOC and permitted to farm, become a tradesman, or work for others. Subsequently some individuals, including the Huguenot refugees, were brought to the Cape specifically to farm and were burghers from the time of their arrival de Caep de Goede Hoop.20

On 3 March 1691 Jan Horl van Bengale was sold by Berndt Burcherdt to Jan de Souza, for Rds. 12.6
On 30 June 1692 Mercurius van Bengale was sold by H. Capt Willem Padt to Berndt Burcherdt, for Rds. 70.22
On 10 January 1698 Christiaen van Trancquebar was sold by Cornelis Krijnsz Rood to Berndt Burcherdt, for Rds. 70.23
