Slave TransactionsOn 12 April 1687 Titus van Bengale and Lena van Macassar were sold by Johannes de Vlaming to Jacob Matsen Rootsteen, for Rds. 70 each.10,11
On 27 November 1688 Titus van Bengale was sold by Jacob Matsen Rootsteen to Andries Beets, no price is recorded.12
On 12 April 1690 Roupa van Java was sold by Doede van der Gaag to Jacob Matsen Rootsteen, for Rds. 70.13,14
On 13 April 1690 Jacob van Macassar and Alij van Bouton were sold by Admiral Joan Parvé to Jacob Matsen Rootsteen, for Rds. 70 each.15,16
On 1 May 1690 Alij van Bouton was sold by Jacob Matsen Rootsteen to Wijmer Pasman, for Rds. 90.17
On 1 May 1690 Jacob van Macassar was sold by Jacob Matsen Rootsteen to Hendrick Venter, for Rds. 90. I have assumed this to be the same individual purchased by Rootstein from Joan Parvé in April 1690 albeit with a different toponym. Corrections welcome.18
Sometime between 3 February 1692 and 6 July 1710, Lena van Macassar appears to have come into possession of Jacobus de Wet following the death of her first owner at the Cape, Jacob Matsen Rootsteen.19
