Johannes de Vlaming was born circa 1650.¹

Vrijbriewen and Burgher Status

Prior to on 12 April 1687, Johannes de Vlaming was a burgher, in Dutch vryburgher or vrijburgher, in Batavia.²

Slave Transactions

On 12 April 1687 Titus van Bengale and Lena van Macassar were sold by Johannes de Vlaming to Jacob Matsen Rootsteen, for Rds. 70 each.^3,4

[S606] J.L. (Leon) Hattingh, "A.J. Böeseken se Addendum van Kaapse slawe-verkoopstransaksies: Foute en regstellings", Kronos (Foute en regstellings) 9 (1984): S. Vermeer (by 14.2.1690) is eintlik Vermey en Jacob Roodsteen moet wees Jacob Rootsteen (in 12.4.1690) [sic - Böeseken did record Rootsteen] en ook nie Rootstein soos in 13.4.1690 vermeld nie. In die betrokke geval is die twee slawe nie saam vir 70 Rds. verkoop nie, maar het elkeen 70 Rds.. Hereinafter cited as "Foute en regstellings."
