Death*He died before 21 October 1710. On this date his wife Sara acquired a house in her name at Erf F, Bo-Dorp Street, Stellenbosch, indicating she was a widow.5

Vrijbriewen and Burgher StatusGuillaume du Toit became a burgher in 1686, in Dutch vryburgher or vrijburgher, initially a status in which a soldier or other employee of the VOC was released from their contractual obligations to the VOC and permitted to farm, become a tradesman, or work for others. Subsequently some individuals, including the Huguenot refugees, were brought to the Cape specifically to farm and were burghers from the time of their arrival. It appears that his first farm was Aan 't Pad, Stellenbosch.20
Slave TransactionsOn 15 March 1695 Andrea van Bouton sold on behalf of Wijbrandt le Clagthon by Andrijs de Man to Guillaume du Toit, for Rds. 90.21
