Baptism

Clara van de Caap was baptized on 23 September 1696 Nederduitsche Gereformeerde Kerk, (Cape Town), de Caep de Goede Hoop. The baptism was witnessed by Magdalena van Bengalen.³

Slave Births

Before 23 September 1696, Clara van de Caap was born in bondage and was owned by Simon van der Stel, I have assumed her to be the mother of the child Johanna Petronella, baptised in 1716. Corrections welcome.^4,1

On 23 September 1696 Jannetie van Madagascar, Claes van Madagascar, Clara van de Caap and Magdalena van Bengalen were slaves owned by Simon van der Stel.⁵
