Gerrit was from Batavia and was perhaps born there circa 1690. He was said to be 14 years old in 1700.¹

Slave Emancipations

On 23 February 1700 Gerrit van Batavia was emancipated by Jacob van de Voorde, and placed in the care of Aletta ter Meulen for ten years, at the end of which the manumission would come into effect.²
