Matthijs was from Trancquebar and was perhaps born there circa 1685. He was said to be 12 years old in 1697.¹

Slave Transactions

On 22 January 1697 Matthijs van Trancquebare and Ram van Trancquebare were sold by Jan Pietersz: van Vleugel to Simon van der Stel, for Rds. 30 each.²
