After the conclusion of the service this morning the banns of the betrothed persons Elbert Dircssen of Emmerich, a local bachelor and burgher, and Christine Does of Doesburgh, a local spinster, were published without any hindrance for the third time according to the Christian custom. As nothing had come to our notice to prevent or delay the carrying into effect of their intention, the Council decided in accordance with the resolution of 28 December last to allow the solemnizing of the marriage to proceed in the name of the Lord. For that purpose and in order than all the proceedings might be legal and proper and to the glory of God, it was decided to have the marriage solemnized by t he Secretary of the Council - as we have no minister here - in the present of the Council and all men in the open council chamber, which was done publicly and legally in the name of the Lord after the reading of of the Christian sermon.
