Birth*Hans Kaspar Geringer was born between 25 June 1653 and 24 June 1654 in Reetz, Germany.1,2
 
LiquidDist* Between 3 April 1719 and 7 April 1719 a liquidation and distribution account was prepared in the estate of Hans Kaspar Geringer de Caep de Goede Hoop.3
LiquidDist* On 24 September 1721 a liquidation and distribution account was prepared in the estate of Hans Kaspar Geringer, Christiaan Bok and Anna Groothenning van Bengale.4
InventoryHans Kaspar's estate was inventoried between 18 February 1719 and 4 March 1719 de Caep de Goede Hoop.5
Arrival* In 1696, Hans Kaspar Geringer and Christiaan Bok arrived at the Cape, Geringer from Reetz in Germany while Bok was from Wolfenbüttel.6 
(Employer) Employment* On 29 January 1700 Caabse distrik Hans Kaspar Geringer employed Christiaan Bok in terms of a one-year contract which stipulated that Bok would received 12 guilders per month, plus board and lodging.7,8 
WillHe left a will on 9 June 1700 de Caep de Goede Hoop in which Christiaan Bok was name sole heir.9 
Will*Christiaan Bok and Hans Kaspar Geringer left a will on 29 January 1705 de Caep de Goede Hoop.10
LoanFarm* On 7 August 1710 Hans Kaspar Geringer and Christiaan Bok applied for a loan farm in de duynen.11

(Beneficiary) InventoryThe estate of Christiaan Bok was inventoried between 26 August 1716 and 28 August 1716 Cabo de Goede Hoop with Geringer receiving one half, his widow Anna, one quarter, and the remaining quarter divided between Michiel, Catharine, Johanna, Christiaan and Clara. Maria Bok was not mentioned. Sixteen male slaves valued at ƒ4,800, and 3 female slaves valued at ƒ450 were included in the inventory, none of whom were identified.14
WillHans Kaspar Geringer left a will on 27 January 1719 de Caep de Goede Hoop.15

Monsterrollen and Opgaafrollen (Muster and tax rolls)On 23 January 1702 Hans Kaspar Geringer was enumerated in the muster roll Caabse distrik, He was enumerated after Martinus van Staden & Annetje Schalk 1 k. and before Poulus Selijns & Geertruijd de Beer 3 k.17
Vrijbriewen and Burgher StatusHans Kaspar Geringer became a burgher before 27 May 1701, in Dutch vryburgher or vrijburgher, initially a status in which a soldier or other employee of the VOC was released from their contractual obligations to the VOC and permitted to farm, become a tradesman, or work for others. Subsequently some individuals, including the Huguenot refugees, were brought to the Cape specifically to farm and were burghers from the time of their arrival Cape District.18
Slave BirthsBefore 17 March 1702, Michiel Bok van der Caep was born in bondage and was owned by Hans Kaspar Geringer de Caep de Goede Hoop.19
Before 21 October 1708, Johanna Bok van der Caep was born in bondage and was owned by Hans Kaspar Geringer de Caep de Goede Hoop.20
Slave TransactionsHans Kaspar Geringer bought a slave, Darius van Bengale from Maria Jansz Visser on 1 August 1701 de Caep de Goede Hoop.21
In 1703 Anna Groothenning van Bengale may have come in to the possession of Hans Kaspar Geringer when Christian Weinoch sold all his property to Johann Lorenz. It may have been that for some reason Jan Lorenz did not want her back in his household because she was apparently already the concubine of Christiaan Bok, the partner of Geringer, having born Bok a child, Michiel, in early 1702.19
On 23 October 1703 Jan van Batavia was sold by Jan van der Brugge to Hans Kaspar Geringer de Caep de Goede Hoop.22
On 4 November 1707 Aaron van Macassar was sold by Gabriel Doman to Hans Kaspar Geringer (Cape Town), de Caep de Goede Hoop.23
On 5 April 1719 Aaron van Macassar was sold by Hans Kaspar Geringer to Hans Kùen (Cape Town), de Caep de Goede Hoop.24
Slave EmancipationsAnna Groothenning van Bengale was emancipated by Hans Kaspar Geringer, on 27 August 1709 de Caep de Goede Hoop, the manumission was made in terms of a will drawn up by Geringer. Her children Johanna Bok van der Caep, Michiel Bok van der Caep, Catharina Bok and Maria Groothenning were manumitted with her.25
Property TransactionsHans Kaspar Geringer bought the property Velthuijsen, Cape Peninsula from Christiaan Bok in 1710, it was described as plaas en hofstede.26
In 1719 Hans Kaspar Geringer sold the property Hans Kaspar in Cape Peninsula to Nicolaas Gockelius, Velthuijsen.27

Geringer aged fifty-six and Bok forty-one, first cancelled their previous testaments executed either singly or in partnership; the survivor was again to be sole heir with the usual provisions for Christian burial and payment of just debts.
