BaptismsJacob was baptized on 22 January 1696 Nederduitsch Gereformeerde Kerk, (Cape Town), de Caep de Goede Hoop. The baptism was witnessed by Margareta van Hof and Jan Coenraad Visser.2
Slave BirthsBefore 22 January 1696, Jacobus Visser was born in bondage and was owned by Jan Coenraad Visser de Caep de Goede Hoop.2,3
Slave EmancipationsOn 24 March 1696 de Caep de Goede Hoop Maria van Negapatnam was emancipated by Jan Coenraad Visser along with her children Anthony Visser, Susanna Visser and Jacobus Visser. This emancipation was to take effect on Visser's death which would occur by 1700. However the emancipation may only have become fully effective in 1702.4,5
