Jan was from Hasersouw/Haserswoude, (this may be Hazerswoude, a former municipality in the Dutch province of South Holland. It contained the towns of Hazerswoude-Dorp and Hazerswoude-Rijndijk, and the villages of Groenendijk and Bent), and was perhaps born there circa 1640. Date is estimated.¹

Monsterrollen and Opgaafrollen (Muster and tax rolls)

In 1660 Jan Jansz: van Eyck was enumerated in the muster roll, he was recorded as from Hasersouw, arquebusier.¹
On 1 March 1661 Jan Jansz: van Eyck was enumerated in the muster roll, he was recorded as from Haserswoude, quarter-master.²
On 1 April 1662 Jan Jansz: van Eyck was enumerated in the muster roll, he was recorded as from Hazerswoude, quarter-master.³
