Vrijbriewen and Burgher Status | On 10 October 1657, Pieter Paulusz: Cley was granted a vrijbrief or letter of freedom which released him from his contractual obligations to the VOC and accorded him the status of vrijburgher or free burgher. He was recorded as a carpenter.1 |
Crime and related | On 7 December 1658 Dirk Ariensz: Vreem was involved in a knife fight with Pieter Paulusz: Cley, who subsequently fled into the interior. Vreem was 'dangerously wounded in the side.3' |
