Mercurius was from Madagascar and was perhaps born there in 1682/83. He was said to be 17 or 18 years old in 1700.¹

On 13 February 1700 Mercurius van Madagascar was sold by Abraham van den Boogaard to Willem Adriaan van der Stel, for Rds. 30.²
