Ysak was from Madagascar and was perhaps born there circa 1680. He was said to be 19 years old in 1699.^1,2

On 21 September 1699 Matthijs van Madagascar and Ysak van Madagascar were sold on behalf of Simon van der Stel by Cornelis Daaldorp to Paùl Heins, for Rds. 50 each.³
