Matthijs was from the Malabar Coast and was perhaps born there circa 1674. He was said to be 22 years old in 1696.¹

Slave Transactions

On 19 January 1696 Matthijs van Malabar and Jonas van Malabar were sold by Christiaen van Alst to Jan Stevensz Botma de Jonge, for Rds. 84 each.²
