Schipio was from the Coromandel Coast and was perhaps born there circa 1677. He was said to be 18 years old in 1695.¹

On 10 March 1695 Schipio van der Kust Coromandel was sold by Elbert Franszen to Simon van der Stel, for Rds. 100.²
