Slave Transactions | Pieter van Ceylon was sold by Jacob Does to Joachim Blank on 28 March 1662. Böeseken says he was given into the custody of Denis van Meteren on the Marsseveen who was to hand him over to his new owner on their arrival at the Cape. Hattingh's transcription is somewhat different: De Meteren purchased Pieter from Does in Batavia, on condition he would sell Pieter for the same amount to Blanck on his arrival at the Cape. The purchase price in both instances was Rds. 50.2,3 |
