Duplicate?*It is possible that Jacob Does and Johan Jacob Dous are the same individual. the former earlier lived in Batavia, and in a succeeding record he is identified as Jacob Does.3,4 
Slave TransactionsPieter van Ceylon was sold by Jacob Does to Joachim Blank on 28 March 1662. Böeseken says he was given into the custody of Denis van Meteren on the Marsseveen who was to hand him over to his new owner on their arrival at the Cape. Hattingh's transcription is somewhat different: De Meteren purchased Pieter from Does in Batavia, on condition he would sell Pieter for the same amount to Blanck on his arrival at the Cape. The purchase price in both instances was Rds. 50.5,6
Catharina van Malabar was sold by Jacob Does to Joachim Blank on 3 April 1662. Böeseken says was given into the custody of Gillis Nonnemans on the Princes Roijael who was to hand her over to her new owner on their arrival at the Cape. Hattingh's transcription is somewhat different: Nonnemans purchased Catrina from Does in Batavia, on condition he would sell her for the same amount to Blanck on his arrival at the Cape, The purchase price in both instances was Rds 75.3,7
