BirthOrigin*Izak was from Ternate and was perhaps born there circa 1665.2 
Employment* On 18 July 1692 Izak van Ternate agreed to work for Henningh Hùijsing as an unpaid labourer in exchange for food and clothing between 1 October 1692 and 1 October 1694. However, at the end of the two-year exchange agreement, Hüsing was to give him 60 breeding ewes.3 
Slave EmancipationsOn 7 June 1687 Izak van Ternate acquired his freedom from Henningh Hùijsing iin exchange for another four years, eight months faithful service.4
On 17 July 1692 the emancipation of Izak van Ternate by Henningh Hùijsing comes into effect, five months after the due date. Like others similarly freed before him, he was permitted to reside and farm in Stellebosch as a vrijman or freeman.5
