BirthOrigin*Cupido was from Madagascar and was perhaps born there in 1681/82.1
(Slave) SlaveInventory Before 8 May 1724, most likely at the time of the decease of her husband, Jan Stevensz Botma de Jonge on a date unknown, Christina de Brùyn came to own the following slaves who were named in the inventory of her estate: Klaas van Angola, Cupido van Madagascar, Carel van Couthin, Aron van Mallabaar, Frans van de Cust, Anthonij van Bengalen, Biron van Mallabaar, Francis van de Caab, Susanna van Madagascar, Marcus van Madagascar, Mathijs van Mallebaar and Titus van Mallebaar.3
NotesOn 8 May 1724 I have assumed Cupido van Madagascar is the same slave purchased in 1678 by Steven Jansz Botma, the father-in-law of Christina de Brùyn, from William Deeron, an English slaver and skipper of the John and Mary.2
Slave TransactionsOn 7 February 1690 Marcus van Madagascar and Cupido van Madagascar were sold by William Deeron to Steven Jansz Botma, for Rds. 94.4
On 6 June 1724 Cupido van Madagascar was sold from the estate of Christina de Brùyn to Johannes Botma.5
