Floor was from Bengal and was perhaps born there circa 1670. Van Bengale - or from Bengal - was a term loosely applied during the period of VOC dominance to enslaved or formerly enslaved people from any of the countries bordering the Bay of Bengal.¹

It is possible that Floris van Bengale and Floor van Bengale are the same individual.

Slave Transactions

On 22 April 1690 Floor van Bengale was sold by Abraham Post to Cornelis Pietersz Linnes, for Rds. 70.²
