BaptismJohannes van de Caep was baptized on 10 November 1697 Nederduitsche Gereformeerde Kerk, (Cape Town). The baptism was witnessed by Bertries van Couchin.3,4 
Slave BirthsBefore 10 November 1697, Johannes van de Caep was born in bondage de Caep de Goede Hoop.1
Slave EmancipationsOn 31 August 1702 Table Valley, de Caep de Goede Hoop, Marta Manuels was emancipated with her children Catharina Jacobs, Jacob van de Caep, Christiaen van de Caep, Johannes van de Caep and Willem Meyn by Grysella Mostaart apparently at the behest of their former owner Hester Weijers who had died two years earlier.1
