BirthOrigin*Carel was from Bengal and was perhaps born there in 1668/69. Van Bengale - or from Bengal - was a term loosely applied during the period of VOC dominance to enslaved or formerly enslaved people from any of the countries bordering the Bay of Bengal. He was said to be 23 or 24 years old in 1692.1 
Slave TransactionsOn 28 April 1692 Carel van Bengale and Pieter van Bengale were sold by Jan Hanne Griff to Guillaume Heems, for Rds. 120.2
