BirthOrigin*Hans was from Madagascar and was perhaps born there circa 1670. He was said to be bejarde, that is 25 or older, in 1695.1 
BaptismHans van Madagascar was baptized on 27 November 1695 Nederduitsch Gereformeerde Kerk, (Cape Town), de Caep de Goede Hoop.1 
Slave TransactionsHans van Madagascar may be the slave who was sold by Theunisz Swartpaart, to Jacob Jansz on 15 December 1676, for Rds. 28. With a view toward further discovery in the record, I have assumed him to be the same individual baptised as an adult company slave (i.e. 25 or older) in 1695.2,3
Slaves Owned by the CompanyOn 27 November 1695 Hans van Madagascar was enslaved and owned by the VOC (Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie) at the Cape.1
