Names in the record, in publications, etc.31 March 1680, the name of Calo was written in the record as Callo van Madagascar.2
Calo van Madagascar was also known as Calloë van Madagasker.
NotesIn 1676 the Company sent the Voorhout to Madagascar to acquire slaves. Those brought to the Cape included four females named Callo. Two were said to be adults, one a youth (which I take to be about 9 or 10 because pre-pubuscent girls were at times enumerated as adult) and one a child, perhaps around two to six years old. In my view, the woman who had children up to 1691, is not the same as the individual who started having children in 1699. The group of women would have included: Calo van Madagascar and Callo van Madagascar.3
Slaves Owned by the CompanyOn 31 March 1680 Calo van Madagascar was enslaved and owned by the VOC (Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie) at the Cape.2
On 18 March 1691 Calo van Madagascar was enslaved and owned by the VOC (Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie) at the Cape.4
