Slave EmancipationsOn 31 May 1706 de Caep de Goede Hoop, Anna Maria Dominicus, aged 32, and her 5-year-old daughter Elsje Katrina Beu, owned by Adriaen van Rheede, were purchased into freedom by her future husband and her daughter's father, Claus Beust. A condition of the manumission was that Beust was to be responsible for the future care of his daughter.10
