Die kerkraad het haar weer vermaan om haar tot God te bekeer en haar lewe te verbeter. As bewys daarvan moes sy die slaaf verkoop, maar daartoe wou sy nie instem nie. Later het sy as verskoning aangevoer dat haar man haar nie wou toelaat om die slaaf te verkoop nie. Toe hy ook voor die kerkraad moes verskyn, het hy gesê dat die slaaf reeds verkoop is, maar die kerkraad wou eers 'n bewys daarvan hê voordat sy vrou se sensuur opgehef is."
