Abraham van Holten was born before 26 June 1701 in Cabo de Goede Hoop, He may also have been born on board ship.¹

Baptism

Abraham van Holten was baptized on 26 June 1701 Nederduitsche Gereformeerde Kerk, (Cape Town). The baptism was witnessed by Abraham Aarnouds. The baptism was performed by the infant's father. The family and the wtiness were enroute to Batavia having departed Wielengen in January, travelling on board the Gouden Phoenix which anchored at the Cape from 23 June to 10 July 1701.²
