Jan was from Laerwijk and was perhaps born there circa 1640.¹

Vrijbriewen and Burgher Status

On 26 April 1662, Jan Christiaensz: was granted a vrijbrief or letter of freedom which released him from his contractual obligations to the VOC and accorded him the status of vrijburgher or free burgher. He is recorded as an arquebusier.²
