Cornelis was from Sande and was perhaps born there circa 1640.¹

Vrijbriewen and Burgher Status

On 18 January 1662, Cornelis Dircx was granted a vrijbrief or letter of freedom which released him from his contractual obligations to the VOC and accorded him the status of vrijburgher or free burgher. He is recorded as an arquebusier.²
