Claes was from Alkmaer and was perhaps born there circa 1640.¹

Vrijbriewen and Burgher Status

On 1 April 1661, Claes Jansz: was granted a vrijbrief or letter of freedom which released him from his contractual obligations to the VOC and accorded him the status of vrijburgher or free burgher. He was recorded as an arquebusier on the galiot De Perkiet.²
