Paulus was possibly from Midwoud and was perhaps born there circa 1640. I have assumed Midwoodt to be the village of Midwoud.¹

Vrijbriewen and Burgher Status

On 22 June 1660, Paulus Cornelisz: was granted a vrijbrief or letter of freedom which released him from his contractual obligations to the VOC and accorded him the status of vrijburgher or free burgher. He was recorded as a 'boy' on the De Nagelboom.²
