Valentijn was from Madras and was perhaps born there circa 1684. He was said to be 16 years old in 1700.¹

On 7 April 1700 Pieter van Malabar and Valentijn van Madras were sold by Jan Dircks de Beer to Jacques Malan, for Rds. 100 each.²
