Thomas was from Bengal and was perhaps born there circa 1680. He was said to be 18 years old in 1698.¹

On 22 April 1698 Thomas van Bengale was sold by Cornelis Overraat to Hans Hendrik Smit, for Rds. 55.²
On 5 May 1698 Thomas van Bengale was sold by Hans Hendrik Smit to Hendrik Jansz: van Kempen, for Rds. 90.³
