On 11 June 1697 Bartholomeus van der Velde was was a junior merchant on the Oosterland, which had sailed from Ceylon and which was stranded in Table Bay on 24 May 1697, while wating to join the return fleet.¹

On 11 June 1697 Jacob van Bengale was sold by Bartholomeus van der Velde to Francois van der Stel, for Rds. 80.²
On 11 June 1697 Augustijn van Bengale was sold by Bartholomeus van der Velde to an unknown person , for Rds. 40.³
