Ram was from the Coromandel Coast and was perhaps born there circa 1678. He was said to be 19 years old in 1697.¹

On 25 February 1697 Ignatius van der Kust Coromandel, Ram van der Kust Coromandel and Anthonij van der Kust Coromandel were sold by Margaretha Hendrina van Otteren to Joan Blesius, for Rds. 85.²
