Damon was from the Malabar Coast and was perhaps born there in 1682/83. He was said to be 10 or 11 years old in 1693.¹

On 3 July 1693 Damon van Malabar was sold by Michiel de Vries to Jan Dircks de Beer, for Rds. 45.²
