Slave Emancipations | On 4 June 1691 Annika Camelang and her children, Jan, Jacob, Maria and Susanna were emancipated at the wish of their owner Jacob Havemeester. Unlike the other manumissions involving Havemeester's slaves on this occasion, there appears to be no record that he demanded any payment from this family.4 On 4 June 1692 Louijs van Macassar purchased his freedom along with that of his de facto wife Annika Camelang and their children Jan, Jacob, Maria and Susanna from Jacob Havemeester, for an unstipulated amount.2,5 |
