BirthOrigin*Jan was from Ternate and perhaps born there circa 1660.2 
Slave EmancipationsOn 11 November 1685 Jan van Ternaten was emancipated by Barbara Geens, he purchased his freedom for Rds. 60.1
On 27 May 1687 the freedom of Magdalena van Bengalen was purchased from Elsie van Suurwaerden for Rds. 100 and most likely paid for by herself or her soon-to-be husband. I have assumed this is the same woman purchased by Albert van Breugel, husband of Elsje Seurwaerden, in 1683 Jan van Ternaten.3
