Augustinus was from Madagascar and perhaps born there circa 1660.¹

Slave Transactions

On 6 January 1677 Augustinus Casta van Madagascar was sold by Arnout Lammertszen to Jan Dircksz, for Rds 40.^2,3

Slave Emancipations

On 5 May 1699 Augustinus Casta van Madagascar purchased his freedom from Jan Dircksen de Beer, by agreeing to work for De Beer for another 3 years at Rds. 2 per month. He would be 42 years old when his obligation was fulfilled and he would be free to make his own choices.⁴
