SILBERBACH, HANS. - ? Burgher at Stellenbosch (1685) and Drakenstein (1693). ~ Ansela of the C. One child, name unknown. (MR. Vrye Lieden of 1685 and 1693.) On 6.7.1697 he slew the burgher, Ary Lecrévain (Lekkerwyn) with a stick and escaped. (C 681, p. 247.) He was summoned to appear within eight days at the Castle (ibid., pp. 250 ff.), and when he did not come he was declared "veldvlugtig en vogelvry" and banished for life; in case he should be found he would suffer the death penalty. His estate was confiscated (C 681, p. 261) and his house sold by public auction on 8.11.1697. (C 728, p. 65.). Hereinafter cited as Personalia.
